Delivering a safe, secure and reliable supply of electricity – now, and into the future.
Since December 2022, we have worked with EirGrid and SONI, in partnership with Sooner Than Later, to support communications across corporate, stakeholder and public engagement programmes.
The work has spanned a broad range of formats, audiences and channels, including the rollout of a new visual identity. Across every touchpoint, the focus has remained the same: helping make complex information clear, accessible and trustworthy.
Background
EirGrid is responsible for managing, developing and operating Ireland’s electricity transmission system, a role that sits at the heart of the country’s transition to a cleaner, more secure energy future.
Central to delivering that future is clear, consistent communication that helps people understand the work being done and why it matters.
From annual corporate reporting to community-level consultation, we have worked closely with EirGrid across the full breadth of their communications programme, helping to bring clarity, consistency and confidence to a complex national story.
Engagement
New transmission lines and substations directly affect the communities they pass through, so clear and respectful communication is central to how EirGrid brings these projects forward.
Across a wide range of locations, audiences and project stages, we have helped support consultation materials that give people the information they need to understand proposals, ask questions and engage meaningfully with the process.
The Challenge
The scale and complexity of EirGrid’s engagement programme calls for more than standard public consultation. Every project has its own community context, concerns and timeline, so the materials need to be clear, honest and relevant to the people directly affected.
Working closely with EirGrid’s public engagement teams, we have helped create communications that support meaningful consultation across a wide range of projects. From exhibition panels to door-drop brochures, each piece is designed to make complex infrastructure information easier to understand.
Identity
We worked with EirGrid to translate their new visual identity across a comprehensive suite of printed materials, bringing greater clarity and consistency to communications across different audiences and formats.
Annual reports, stakeholder publications and accessibility-compliant documents were designed to sit seamlessly alongside community-facing materials, all connected by the same clear visual language.
Execution
At community level, we developed route-specific brochures, reply forms, localised maps, door-drop communications and exhibition suites to support public information roadshows across Ireland.
The mapping work combined GIS and Google Maps data, helping people understand proposed routes in relation to familiar roads, towns, landmarks and surrounding areas. Each document was produced in both English and Irish, with accessibility and readability built into the process from the start, including screen-reader compatibility.
